John 20:30 – 31
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that by believing ye might have life through his name.
Prayer is a mystery given to us to enjoy the Gospel. But, there are only few people who are able to pray and only fewer who can pray correctly. This is why most of people cannot find prayer enjoyable. This is why they chose to do other things. What must we do to enjoy this?
- The Gospel-inspired Prayer.
Our prayers should be inspired and should be Gospel based. It should include the confession of our faith and Christ being the center of it. John 20:31 says that only through Jesus’ name we can find life. Sufferings will come but if we who knows this truth will pray, we can withstand through with victory.
Also, most of the times we thought that our prayer is already lined in the Gospel but as we pray on we find that, that prayer is centered only on ourselves. This is why we have to always connect ourselves to the word and then meditate and pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
- The Gospel-centered Prayer Topics.
It is important for us to have prayer topics that is centered on the Gospel. One of the main reason why we cannot enjoy prayer is because we lack of prayer topics that is centered on the Gospel. This will later result to discouragement and lead us to not to continue praying. So therefore, understanding the Gospel is essential to us who are saved to be used by God to also save others. This is why John made the confession of “these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that by believing you might have life through His name.”
- Receive Gospel-related Prayer answers.
As children of God, receiving answers to prayers is a normal thing. But receiving Gospel related answers is so special and that this kind of answer is the best answer we can ever have. Remember that prayer connects us to God through Christ and that true answer to prayer is when someone realized and accepted the Gospel.
We have to start to meditate on what kind of prayer we are praying.
