Matthew 6:9 – 13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Keeping ourselves to prayer is essential for us believers. Many of us keep it but later lose the urge to pray because they do not know how to pray correctly. This is why we cannot continue praying even in the midst of hardships.
What Jesus thought us about prayer in Matthew 6:9 – 13; was a guide for us to know what the important things we should be praying for are.
- We have to restore Worship.
People are ought to give thanks to God, because He is the Great Creator. But many of us do not know this fact. If we do not know this things answer seems so hard to come. This is why we have to restore ourselves in our Worship to the God who created everything. We as created beings should give glory and honor to the one who created us. Also, God gave us salvation through the Gospel, when Jesus came down from heaven through incarnation, and accomplished God’s redemption on the cross. He made it sure to have His promise fulfilled by giving us eternal life through His resurrection.
Our God because of the Gospel reconciled with us through Jesus being the Christ. So our prayer should follow and lined within the Gospel. It is important that we know this truth to be able to pray to God confidently.
- True Confession
Because of the Gospel and accepting Jesus as Christ in our lives, we were released from the bondage of Sin and from the hands of Satan. We have to relay this fact throughout the place we are in. We can do this by having true confession about Jesus being the Christ and the solution to all our problems. This then will change the way we pray, our priorities and topics of prayer we have.
True confession is testifying that Jesus is the only way to make all our problems solved. We cannot make correct prayer without this testimony of truth. Also, this brings life and blessings to all the people if we can make this testimony live inside and out ourselves.
- Ask God of what you need for His glory.
Ask God what you really need for His glory instead of asking things outside His will and plan. The reason God is giving us and providing us what we need is, because God want us to witness of Him throughout the whole community, workplace, nation and lastly the whole world.
It is important that we know the reason why are asking things to God. We have to make sure that anything we pray to God should include the reason why we need that prayer to be answered. Also, we have to make sure that it is for his glory and not because we just wanted it to be answered.
Have your prayers centered on God and live anchored in this habit, for we are God’s chosen people.
God bless us. Jesus is the Christ!
