Ecclesiastes 1:1 – 3
1The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 2Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. 3What profit a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?
We maybe became satisfied of the results of the things we attained and accomplished. But there will still be inside our hearts that after we had so much we will still want more. This is Satan covering our hearts with rage for having everything in this world.
After so much of work, most of us find our path misleading. A retiring officer does not have the idea what would be waiting for his life after he retire from all the loads of his life’s work. At the end he will decide to just to have something to do he will make himself busy doing anything. Good for him if he has retirement funds, he can enjoy his moments to its height.
People are trying their best to improve, to be great, and be on top. But what if you are there on the top; surpassing everyone; and realize that it is just an empty place.
Imagine you have been racing to be top most runner in your country, then you reached it. Through practice and hard work you finally won. This would result in people recognizing you, with all that fame and fortune. Having that achievement that others are trying to have. Later on, years will pass and people will start to forget you. People soon to just walking around just like you did not exist. After a while you will realize that everything changes and life itself does not give you true and long lasting happiness.
It happens for most of us that through the years we experience the peak of our lives where we feel we are the boss or that feeling of being the king of the World.
We cannot make that a lifetime. I believe that somehow we know in ourselves that we do not have the assurance about everything. That is why, we must trust God with all our hearts and depend on His loving kindness.
Christ died for us to see that we are in the need of saving, not physically but spiritually. Our spirit belongs to God and He is our only sustenance; source of our life and true happiness. If we are with God we will never ask for anything (the confession of Paul – Philippians 3:8).
If we are able to understand this fact we also can testify God’s goodness in all things. Thanksgiving will be restored in us, that we are privileged that we are in the presence of God through His word and prayer.
This is why God desires to make the world know Him to save the world from Sin, being separated from God and from Satan’s slavery.
Let us have the prayer of an evangelist, filled with the Holy Spirit that keeps us strong. Let us make today worthwhile by giving thanks to God about the things we have and for the sufficient grace that He has given us through the Lord Jesus Christ.
God bless everyone.
